This week Dr. Jack Smith a long-time serving member of World Venture passed into glory. We heard endless testimonies from the University academia, from doctors that have gone through his hands, cancer patients touched by his visits in the Cancer ward, ex prisoners who had been touched by his regular visits to Luzira Prison and a variety of believers around the country.
I will mention only three tributes shared in the last few days 1. "Dr. Jack Smith, you have been a friend, a father, and a great mentor. Your heartfelt father-son conversations will always illuminate your legacy in lives you impacted. Until we meet again - Kwesiga Jeremiah
"Dr. Jack was a guiding light during my darkest days, offering unwavering support and compassion. Later, he walked beside me as I found my path to guide others on their journey of emotional healing - Dr Robinah Nakawunde
"Dr Jack fathered me the whole time I was at the university, he identified my potentials and shaped me into knowing how I can use them. He taught me how to read books and he gave me a Bible that will always treasure and remember him when reading it. There is no audience I can't address but most importantly I always think critically about things. Am so grateful I went through his arms, I thank God for his life." Amen-Jackline Nankya
We did not have enough time in the services for everyone to share how Jack touched their lives. I know that Jack was able to touch so many people because he chose the single life. He had time devoted exclusively to ministry. The Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:32 that "I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs-how he can please the Lord. But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world-how he can please his wife-
"If you are still single or plan to stay single recognize the unique opportunity to serve the LORD undistracted by marriage."
