A 3-year-old girl asked her mother, “Who made you Mummy?” Mummy responded, “Sweetie, God made me.” She then asked, “Who made Daddy?” Maama responded “God made Daddy” She pressed the question, “Well then, who made God?” Mother responded “Aah! Oh, God made Himself!”
Well, mummy tried but she missed some thing because it is impossible for God to make Himself because that would mean that Someone who did not exist brought Himself into existence. God is self-existent so any attempt to describe Him is clouded by human limitations. Moses needed help to describe this God to His people, so he asked; “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”
We must live our lives with humility, in wonder, awe, worship of this indescribable God. We are limited and he is limitless and yet we are invited to live in relationship with Him. Do you have a vibrant relationship with Him?
